Why Join EBCI? It’s a Journey…
Most of us residents here in Dubai are expats. Some are from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. To know where you are from… is good. But to know where you are going… is even better.
Dubai can be a lonely city for some people, and God has set apart for you a family of faith in which you can find brothers and sisters closer to you than your blood relatives. When you are a member of the Family of God you are never alone.
Wherever you go the rest of your life, you have Christian brothers and sisters going with you. We are traveling together.
Faith in Community
The Christian life is not individual, but corporate. We are saved individually, by faith. But we live out our faith in community. We are, in the words of scripture, “The joyful gathering of God’s first-born sons, whose names are written in heaven” (Hebrews 12:23), and the elders will be called to account for “the flock entrusted to them” (Acts 20:28; Hebrews 13:17). If you are not yet a member of such a flock, we invite you to join us.
The church is Jesus’ idea. While He walked the earth Jesus stated, “I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18). He died for his church (Acts 20:28; Eph 5:25), and He identified personally with his church (Acts 9:4).The Church is just as visible and physical today as Jesus was during his public ministry. Just as God the Son stooped down in flesh in Bethlehem, as told in John 1:1-3, so God the Spirit continues to stoop down to inhabit his Church here and now…in EBCI, Dubai. This is an important truth that deserves to be fixed in your mind and heart. The Church is Christ’s body between his ascension and his second coming (1 Corinthians 12:27).
On the Move
The people of God are on a journey, we are going someplace—to a land of milk and honey, to Beulah Land (Isaiah 62:4). Moses and the people of Israel were on their way to a place where they would all be expats, and that’s where we are going too. EBCI is on the same line with the church of the twelve apostles in Jerusalem. We are on the same line as the children of Israel under Moses in the wilderness. We are just as much a part of the Body of Christ, the Family of God as any other church anywhere. We are his agents chosen and gifted to carry out his ministry until he returns (1 Peter 2:9). Our journey is just as real as theirs. We too are “marching to Zion.”
It is a God-given journey. Our purpose and destiny is not our choice; it is our commission. Therefore, if you are not yet a member of EBCI and are interested in learning more about the meaning and value of membership, we invite you to join us.
