OPENING
Cubbies meet in the upstairs rooms, opposite to to the Youth – Upper Room. During the opening, we welcome the children and help them settle down. At times we may include a special fun activity. This is also a great time to get to know each other and even recognize their birthdays.
SONG TIME
During this time we sing choruses and songs. Sometimes we try and sing or teach songs that’s related to the lesson that’s going to be taught later that day. The children love singing action songs as well as using percussions. So this is a time they come together to praise God through song.
PUPPETS AND STORY TIME
Every week we have an appearance from our favorite bear (Cubbie) and his friends. The puppets share their perspective on what will soon be coming up in the lesson and encourage a great deal of enthusiasm from the Cubbies! The kids love their puppet time!
Next, is the story time. We recite the verse again and hear a lesson from God’s Word. The Bible story follows the night’s theme and ties the entire night all together. The opportunity to share our love for Jesus, and the Bible, with your child is what Cubbies is all about. That is why we are here. It is great to see small children listening to these stories and see them begin to understand what it means for them! During this time questions and comments are always welcome and we attempt to make it as interactive as possible.
SNACK TIME
The Cubbies really enjoy their snacks which are given out every club night. Even our snacks reinforce the theme. (If your child has an allergy/intolerance to food products, please list them in the comments section of the application form.)
HANDBOOK AND CRAFT TIME
After the snack time, the Cubbies will go into crafts. Cubbie crafts are usually pages to color, glue, add glitter, etc. These crafts relate directly to the Bible story which they have heard earlier in the evening.
While more of the cubbies are doing craft time, one or two cubbies at a time will follow their leaders to their rooms and recite their verse(s).
GOING HOME/FUN ACTIVITY
The lesson for the week is ended by singing the Cubbies song, doing a fun activity that’s connected to the lesson and briefly going through the main concepts of the lesson again.
